Artist Statement
My work is a personal exploration into the mindset, of positive change, and spontaneous expression. I am inspired by the essence of dreams, and curious about how geometry, symbolism, and color are woven through meaning and context. My inspiration comes from the curved edges and ever-flowing style of pop culture; action figures, sneaker design, and fashion. Illustration to me reflects an inner constant change and fluid adaption, an act of courage inspired by standing on the very edge of the known world — creating the next reality with the elements scavenged from previous iterations and experiences. Painting with acrylic on wood allows me to explore form and contrast while achieving a smooth and polished look. The forms of animals, plants, and the mysterious passage of time are at play within the spirit of my work. I use nature, music, and intuition to form motifs. Vibrant color palettes featuring cool pastels and complimentary hues are the signature of my visual field, using gradients and negative space to improvise depth and gem-like quality. For me, standing at the precipice of surreal and serene is a special kind of freedom, and I never plan on stepping back.
